Erikmikejr#1 i'm 18 and i am doing aa project on medievil times and i really need to know what is the importance of a great hall in a castle? Erik Schmidt In some castles, espacially the smaller or earlier castles, the great hall was the only room aside form kitchens, stables, stores and so on.
So in many cases it was the only place to be inside if you were not attending to horses or cooking.
The great hall was of primary importance in conducting the business of the castle, meeting with important people, eating and sleeping.
Even the upper classes in the middle ages were very active, spending much of their leasure time hunting, not sitting about in their hall.
